Additional Therapies/Information

Through the Peter B. Lewis Aquatic & Therapy Center, Occupational and Speech Therapies are also available on the Menorah Park campus.

The Peter B. Lewis Aquatic & Therapy Center specializes in the older adult population, but provides appropriate services to adults of all ages in need of rehab therapy. The rehabilitation therapists help clients improve strength and mobility, maintain independence and improve everyday skills.

Physical therapy can begin with land-based therapy, or it can follow aquatic therapy. The client meets one-on-one with a physical therapist. An assessment is done, followed by the development of an exercise regimen. The exercises are done during physical therapy visits, and diagrams/descriptions of exercises are given to the client to do independently at home.

MCKENZIE BACK THERAPY

Suffering from lower back or neck pain can affect every part of daily life. Whether sitting in the car, standing to brush teeth, bending to put on shoes, or trying to carry groceries, the simplest chores can be excruciating. The McKenzie Method has been proven to decrease short-term pain and disability, and is better than massage, strength training, use of anti-inflammatory medications, or spinal mobilization, according to research.

Deb Glett, PT, a physical therapist at the Lewis Aquatic Center since 2000, is now a Certified McKenzie Practitioner. With an emphasis on active patient involvement, Deb will prescribe a personalized exercise program for each client, and provide advanced hands-on techniques to manage symptoms and improve mobility.
